Gapahuk

At the local shore where people go for picnic and swimming during the summer half of the year, a shelter is now being constructed. The «gapahuk» will be open all year for everyone to use.
It is being built the same way the fishermen and farmers at the west coast of Norway have built boathouses and barns for more then a thousand years!

Comenius Day

Today we have devoted the entire day to the comenius project. The oldest pupils have learned about some famous buildings in Haugesund and have travelled to town to take pictures. The pupils in grade 6 are working on the contribution to the next Comenews. They have made a typical Norwegian window display and are also drawing some pictures showing Norwegian christmas decorations.

The youngest pupils have learned about the farm houses in the old days, and are making models of them. This is a sketch showing the fireplace in the middle of the house.

Teachers assistant

This is our teachers assistant Ines Thoma. She comes from Germany and is studying at the university in Augsburg. She came to us in the beginning of October, and will stay until the end of January. Already she has adapted well to island-living and we love having her in our school.
